Rate equations model for multiple magnetic mirrors in various thermodynamic scenarios

Axial particle loss is one of the main challenges for fusion aimed, linear magnetic mirror plasma configurations. One way to mitigate this disadvantage and increase confinement time use a multiple mirrors setup. The idea reduce outgoing flux by collisions in outer cells. Here, we develop semi-kinetic rate equation model ions' density dynamics, including scattering within cell transmission between neighboring dominant parameter mean free path, which depends on temperature each cell. steady-state flow studied analytically numerically three thermodynamic scenarios: isothermal plasma, adiabatic expansion, constant diffusion. It found that varies about five-fold over different scenarios, where cooling best confining scenario.
